Why does Lightning Tracker need my location?
Location lets the app request weather information for where you are and calculate location-specific thunder risk or nearby lightning context. The app is designed to use efficient one-shot location updates rather than continuously running high-accuracy GPS.
Why don’t I see lightning strike pins?
The default app configuration uses MET Norway Locationforecast for modeled thunder risk. That service is a forecast source, not a lightning detection network, so the app intentionally does not invent strike pins or distances. Observed strike locations require a compatible licensed strike-data provider to be configured.
Are Lightning Tracker alerts guaranteed?
No. Alerts are informational and are not a replacement for official warnings. Network conditions, provider availability, iOS background-execution limits, notification settings, Focus modes, quiet hours, and other factors can affect delivery.
How do I change notification settings?
You can adjust alert preferences inside Lightning Tracker. You can also control system-level notification permission in iOS Settings under Notifications → Lightning Tracker.
How do I change location permission?
Open iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → Lightning Tracker. Available choices depend on your iOS version and device settings.
How do I restore a purchase?
Use the Restore Purchases option in Lightning Tracker. The app uses Apple StoreKit for purchase state, so you should be signed in with the Apple Account that made the original purchase.
How do I cancel a subscription?
Subscriptions purchased through the App Store are managed by Apple. On iPhone, open Settings, tap your Apple Account name, then Subscriptions, select Lightning Tracker, and choose the available cancellation option.
Why is the widget not updating continuously?
The widget uses Apple’s WidgetKit timeline system. iOS decides when widgets can refresh and does not guarantee a live, continuously updating network feed. Open the main app for the freshest available information.
Is Lightning Tracker an emergency warning app?
No. Lightning Tracker is an informational utility. Always follow official weather alerts, emergency services, local authorities, and appropriate safety guidance.
