Important safety notice: Lightning Tracker is an informational weather utility. It is not an emergency warning system, meteorological authority, or substitute for official weather alerts, emergency services, local authorities, or your own judgment.
1. The Service
Lightning Tracker provides weather and lightning-related information that may include modeled thunder risk, location-specific context, saved locations, alerts, widgets, and — when a compatible observed-lightning data source is configured — strike proximity or movement-related insights.
Features can vary by App version, device, region, permissions, data-provider availability, subscription status, and production configuration.
2. Weather and lightning information
Weather conditions can change quickly. Forecasts, modeled risk, lightning observations, calculated distances, movement estimates, alerts, and other information may be delayed, incomplete, unavailable, or inaccurate. Network connectivity, device settings, operating-system limits, provider outages, and data latency can affect the Service.
The App’s risk score and related states are product heuristics intended to make available information easier to understand. They are not official emergency-agency warning levels.
You are responsible for checking official weather warnings and taking appropriate precautions. Never rely on Lightning Tracker as the sole source of information when personal safety, property, travel, outdoor activity, aviation, marine operations, or other safety-critical decisions are involved.
3. Alerts and background operation
Enabling alerts does not guarantee that you will receive a notification before lightning, severe weather, or dangerous conditions occur. iOS does not guarantee continuous background execution for arbitrary network polling, and notifications may be delayed, suppressed, or unavailable for reasons outside our control.
Quiet hours, notification settings, Focus modes, connectivity, battery conditions, provider availability, or device configuration may affect alert delivery.
4. Location permissions
Some features work best when you grant location permission. You can decline or revoke that permission, but location-dependent features may then be limited or unavailable. You are responsible for the accuracy of manually entered or saved locations.
5. Subscriptions and purchases
If Lightning Tracker offers paid subscriptions or in-app purchases, they are processed through Apple’s App Store and are also subject to Apple’s applicable terms. Prices, billing periods, trials, and included features will be shown in the purchase flow before you confirm a transaction.
Unless Apple states otherwise in the purchase flow, subscriptions may renew automatically until canceled. You can manage or cancel an App Store subscription through your Apple account settings. Refund requests are handled according to Apple’s policies and applicable law.
Premium features, pricing, trial availability, and subscription products may change over time. Changes will not override rights you have under applicable law.
6. Acceptable use
You agree not to misuse the Service. In particular, you must not:
- use the Service in a way that violates applicable law or another person’s rights;
- attempt to interfere with, overload, probe, bypass, or disrupt security or technical protections;
- access data or systems through methods not intentionally provided by the Service;
- reverse engineer or circumvent paid-feature controls except where such restrictions are prohibited by law;
- use the Service or its data to create a competing data feed in violation of applicable provider licenses or terms.
7. Third-party services and data
The Service may depend on Apple, MET Norway, optional licensed lightning-data providers, infrastructure providers, Superwall, RevenueCat, and other third-party services. Third-party data and services are governed by their own terms and may be changed, rate-limited, interrupted, or discontinued without our control.
References or links to third-party services do not imply that we control or guarantee those services.
8. Intellectual property
The Lightning Tracker name, application design, website design, software, graphics, branding, and other original materials are protected by applicable intellectual-property laws. Except for rights expressly granted to you to use the Service, no ownership rights are transferred under these Terms.
Third-party names, data, trademarks, and materials remain the property of their respective owners.
9. Updates and availability
We may add, modify, suspend, or discontinue features of the Service. We may release updates that are required for compatibility, security, legal compliance, provider changes, or continued operation. We do not guarantee that every feature will remain available indefinitely.
10. Disclaimers
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Service is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. We disclaim warranties that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, continuously current, or suitable for any particular safety-critical purpose.
Nothing in these Terms excludes warranties or rights that cannot lawfully be excluded under consumer-protection law.
11. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for loss of profits, data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses arising from or related to your use of or inability to use the Service.
In particular, you understand that weather and lightning information can be delayed or inaccurate and agree not to treat the Service as a guaranteed warning system. Any limitations in this section apply only to the extent permitted by applicable law.
12. Privacy
Our handling of information is described in the Privacy Policy, which forms part of your relationship with the Service.
13. Termination
You may stop using the Service at any time. We may restrict or terminate access where reasonably necessary to protect the Service, enforce these Terms, comply with law, or address abuse. Termination does not affect rights or obligations that by their nature should survive termination.
14. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms when the Service, business model, providers, or legal requirements change. The “Last updated” date above will be revised when changes are made. Where required by law, we will provide additional notice of material changes.
15. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws that apply based on the developer’s place of establishment and any mandatory consumer protections that apply to you. Nothing in these Terms deprives you of rights you cannot waive under the laws of your country or region.
